BRF Foundation

Description

The BRF Foundation is a private non-profit organization, whose primary objectives are:
  • - develop and finance new research projects;
  • - increase the levels of psychiatric and psychological knowledge;
  • - implement the applicative aspect of research and disseminate updated scientific information.
In addition to research, the BRF foundation focuses on fighting stigma toward mental health by organizing every year a cultural festival on the topic and publishing a monthly magazine on mental health issues, scientific research and neuroscience. BRF has distinguished itself nationally for its focus on mental health issues, as well as the establishment of national observatories aimed at shedding light on these topics. The team consists of several well-known experts from various backgrounds who can offer their unique professional input to research. The scientific committee has a national and international dimension. Over the years, the BRF Foundation has activated various collaborations with institutions of research, universities and public institutions. Among these are:
  • - Ministry of Education;
  • - University of Florence;
  • - University of Siena;
  • - Unicamillus of Rome;
  • - CNR;
  • - IMT Alti Studi Lucca.
BRF was among the first in Italy to denounce the possibility that the Covid-19 health emergency would be followed by a second, psychiatric one. That is why it decided to start a a multicenter, 3-year follow-up study evaluating persistent symptoms of SARS Cov-2 after clinical recovery, with particular regard to mental and neurological symptoms.
